YATES COUNTY—The Arc of Yates is making some changes, by consolidating offices and a name rewording.
Marco Altieri, senior director of new services and development, said the organization has changed its name from Yates ARC to the Arc of Yates in June.  He said the decision was made with the help of a focus group.
The Arc is also working on consolidating six different offices/buildings, down to three.  He said that the clinic and community support offices are being moved to a facility the Arc leases at the former Iron Age building.  Altieri explained the the Keuka Lake School and the office on North Avenue will also remain where they are.
The Keuka Lake School is a preschool for children with disabilities and developmental delays, as well as children without disabilities (up until age five).
Altieri said this allows more services to be in one place, and will save the Arc money.  He added there will now be more space in the building they are renting.
The Arc plans to have the services that are moving into part of the Iron Age building be completely moved in by the end of July.  Altieri said work is being done on the building, which is a warehouse, to accommodate the new offices.
He explained work on the front offices, which were already there, was mostly cosmetic.  Work inside the warehouse includes turning the open space into offices.
Altieri said the Arc is looking into turning the Elm Street offices into supervised and supported apartments.  He said that kind of project would need various approvals.
“It’s very exploratory,” he explained.
