Are you ready to lose weight?

DUNDEE—Have you ever wanted to lose weight but needed some motivation?
Well, the Dundee Central School and Our Town RoCKS community group have teamed together to give Dundee residents and those who work in the Dundee community some great motivation: The Great Dundee Decrease.
Starting Tuesday, June 29, and running until Oct. 26, The Great Dundee Decrease will encourage participants to lose as much weight as possible. The event is being organized by Jen Hutches and Barb Zebrowski. The Great Dundee Decrease is designed to help anyone living or working in the Dundee community to lose weight and improve their level of health.
Hutches said the event was organized to bring something to Dundee that wasn’t there. According to the event, lifetime fitness is essential to a long and happy life. Unfortunately, a community as small as Dundee does not have the resources a bigger community would have like a weight loss program. Hutches added she was in a good position, as wellness coordinator, to easily kick-start this event.
“It’s a small investment to take a chance,” she said to encourage as many people as possible to try. Hutches added weight loss is a tough topic to talk about and wants people to feel comfortable.
There will be a registration meeting June 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Dundee Youth Center. However, people can register anytime until Tuesday, July 29. Youth 14 and under can participate, but must register with a parent/guardian.
The contest lasts until Oct. 26, with the final weigh-in at the Dundee Youth Center, starting at 6:30 p.m. There will also be weekly weigh-ins every Tuesday. They will be held at the Dundee Central School Wellness Center from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
A $15 entrance fee gets each participant into the competition, an individual health profile, pedometer, a t-shirt if you complete the program, and the chance for cash prizes. In addition to cash prizes for the the first, second and third place “losers” at the end of the event, there will also be prizes for best monthly weight loss.
For more, people can call Zebrowski at 607-243-8259, or Hutches at 607-243-5533 Ext. 7145.
