Arrests made with Dundee burglaries

DUNDEE—Authorities investigated another round of burglaries in Dundee and made two arrests last week.
Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike said the department, in conjunction with the New York State Police, arrested two individuals last week. He said the two agencies were investigating burglaries at Beauty Craft, Tuesday, May 31, and at the Pour House, Saturday, May 28. Both are on Main Street in Dundee.
On Monday, June 6, Spike explained the sheriff’s department has not released the names because they are hoping to make another arrest this week and want to keep details to a minimum. Lt. Todd Sotir said the sheriff’s department would release more information Wednesday, June 8, after arraigning another suspect in court.
Spike said the same people might be involved in a number of burglaries happening in Dundee. He said the sheriff’s office is investigating a burglary at the China Kitchen, next door to Beauty Craft, that happened at the same time.
Sharon Schuyler, owner of Beauty Craft, said she came to work Wednesday, June 1, and found out someone had broken in through the back door. She said she didn’t touch anything and called the sheriff immediately. Schuyler said nothing was stolen, but she doesn’t keep any money in the store overnight.
These burglaries follow break-ins at the Dundee Area Youth Center and Earl’s Home Town Pizzeria, the weekend of May 21 and 22. Around $2,200 was stolen from the Youth Center.
