Barnes vote total tops Eslinger

WATKINS GLEN--Schuyler County Legislator Phil Barnes is the unofficial winner in District 6 to retain his seat over challenger Brian Eslinger from the Tuesday, Nov 6 mid-term election.
The final totals, including absentee ballots counted Tuesday, Nov 13, there were 496 votes for Barnes, 488 for Eslinger.
Prior to the election Barnes said his priorities in serving would include the following:
"My priorities are keeping taxes down, helping promote job growth and economic development, and ensuring the safety of our residents. Right now we also need to fight the heroin and meth problem that is occurring across upstate New York. We need to invest resources to throw the book at dealers who peddle poison to our kids, while also trying to help non-violent, non-repeat offenders who truly want to get better break the habit and become productive members of society."
Barnes will now serve his third term on the legislature.
