The Windmill market opens this Saturday
BARRINGTON—The Windmill Farm and Craft Market opens for its 26th season this Saturday, April 27.
The Windmill, located at 3900 State Route 14A, features some 200 vendors, selling a variety of produce, crafts, furniture, flowers, toys, clothing and food. It even offers entertainment and horse and buggy rides. The Windmill has become a prominent tourist attraction, with a weekly attendance exceeding 8,000 to 10,000 people. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, plus Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day. The season runs until Saturday, Dec. 14. Parking and attendance is free. Barrington workers want union by April 5
BARRINGTON—The Barrington town board has until Friday, April 5, to formally recognize the unionization request of five medium equipment operators or risk being forced to meet the employees’ demands. The town board, the five workers, and two representatives from Teamsters Union Local 118 from Rochester all met Monday, March 25. Paul Markwitz, Teamsters business agent, said the town requested an additional 10 days to consider the request. The Barrington town board met the following Wednesday, March 27, and held an executive session about the union. However, no decision was made at that time. Barrington appoints fracking committee
BARRINGTON—The Barrington town board interviewed and appointed seven people to serve on the town’s fracking committee, Wednesday, Dec. 19.  The committee will meet and compile information on hydraulic fracturing with the focus being as unbiased as possible.  Supervisor Fred Wright said all the people interviewed who applied were approved. Read More ...
Barrington approves tax levy cap override
BARRINGTON—Before the Barrington town board even meets to review the 2013 budget, Supervisor Fred Wright said they will override the state’s tax levy cap, Wednesday, Sept. 26.  Wright explained the town kept the tax levy increase at two percent the last three years. However, he said the state’s retirement costs have been going up around $20,000 per year and the town cannot keep taking money from the reserves to balance the budget. Read More ...
