Barrington town board 03/11/09

Meeting: The Barrington town board met Wednesday, March 11 for 35 minutes.
Attendance: All board members were present.  There were nine members of the public in the audience.
Action: The board voted to endorse and promote the Land Use Keuka Lake Planning Guide, created from the Land Use Leadership Alliance (LULA) meetings.  Board members attended meetings about what the planning guide contained and were asked to endorse the document.  The planning guide contains possible ways of dealing with things like steep slopes, common to around Keuka Lake.
Discussion without action: The board tabled decision on the ethics nominating committee so Clerk Joy Perry could burn a CD of the audio from the previous meeting. Board member Freeman Freeman said that at the Feb. 25 meeting he thought they were voting on if deadlines could be extended after the allotted time has passed, for all deadlines. Perry and several of the other board members said they thought the vote was for extending the deadline for ethics nominating committee applications, as stated in the meeting minutes. Supervisor Eileen Farnan said she was not sure.
• Highway Superintendent Steve Wheeler will give the board quotes on asphalt prices as soon as they are available. The board wants get the salt-mixing barn finished.  At the top of the list is paving the floor.
• Sue Lange spoke to the board about the Barrington Historical Group’s interest in using the town hall for presentations. The board said use by the public was one of the reasons the current town hall was built.  Lange also asked if the historical group could hang old photos inside the town hall.  Farnan said there was also plenty of space downstairs in the courtroom that might be a good space.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting will be Wednesday, March 25 at 7 p.m.
