Barrington town board 09/09/09

Meeting:  The Barrington town board met Wednesday, Sept. 9 for 25 minutes.
Attendance:  Supervisor Eileen Farnan was the only board member absent.  There were three members of the public in the audience.
Action:  The board approved highway Superintendent Steve Wheeler’s payment schedule for work on the town salt barn.  Wheeler said that the work would begin next week and payment would be done in four installments as the salt barn is constructed.
Discussion without action:  Lange, planning board member, gave the town board the proposed steep slopes law with changes.  Some of the biggest changes she highlighted were exemptions.  She said this includes repairing an existing septic system and anything that the Yates County Soil and Water District says will have a limited impact.  Another change is that if the code enforcement officer denies a person’s request, the planning board can be appealed to.  Lange added that in most cases the planning board would usually agree with the code enforcement officer.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular board meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
