Barrington town board 2/23/11

Meeting: The Barrington town board met Wednesday, Feb. 23, for one hour and 15 minutes.
Attendance: Bruce Castner was the only board member absent. There were five members of the public in the audience.
Action: The board approved the personnel handbook. A public hearing about the handbook was held at the start of the meeting.
• A public hearing was scheduled Wednesday, March 23, for the Keuka Watershed Model Local Wastewater Treatment law.
• The date of the annual Board of Assessment Review meeting was changed to May 25, the fourth Wednesday of that month.
• The board scheduled the annual town cleanup day for May 21. Residents will get a postcard in the mail about the cleanup. Clerk Joy Perry explained residents need to bring that postcard when dropping something off at the cleanup.
• The board approved paying the Penn Yan Fire Department’s bill, but have still not signed the annual agreement. Supervisor Fred Wright said at the last meeting that he wanted to only sign the updated contract. However, it is not completed yet.
Discussion without action: A public hearing was held about the available Community Development Block Grants. Perry said not enough people showed up to contribute public comments on where the grants should be used in Barrington. Another hearing will be held at the next Our Town RoCKS meeting to get more input.
• Planning board chairperson Sue Lange thanked the town board about contributing to the steep slopes law. However, she said the town needs to move forward with the subdivision law.
Appointments/resignations: The board approved Eileen Farnan to be a member of the Agricultural Committee.
Upcoming meetings: The next Barrington town board meeting is Wednesday, March 23, at 7 p.m.
