Black Rock gets ready for some guests

DUNDEE—When NASCAR comes to Watkins Glen the racing fun usually spills over into Dundee at Black Rock Speedway.
otor Racing Outreach, a Christian organization that follows NASCAR events, has asked drivers, pit crews, and professionals, to come to Black Rock this Friday for the fifth consecutive year. It is a fundraising event for Motor Racing Outreach. Proceeds from a 50/50 raffle help the group and Milly’s Pantry, which is based in Penn Yan. Both groups have been recipients of the fundraising from this event for several years.
Drivers and professionals are invited to compete in the Black Rock races. In previous years, drivers have also signed autographs and mingled with fans at the charity event.
While the list of those attending is usually decided last minute, MRO’s Web site said it expects possible appearances by Michael McDowell, Justin Allgaier, and Trevor Bayne. Tony Stewart has been a regular visitor to the track over the years. Marcos Ambrose and David Reutimann have also made appearances.
Matthew Dillner, videographer of NASCAR events, has helped organize the event over the years.
“Best part was raising money for Motor Racing Outreach. Their group means a lot to me.” said Dillner about a previous Black Rock night. “It was just a small way for us to all show our appreciation for all they do.”
