Boat owner appeals Keuka Maid eviction

HAMMONDSPORT—Keuka Maid owner Robert Pfuntner is appealing an eviction notice from the town of of Urbana.
At the Tuesday, Feb. 15 Urbana town board meeting, Deputy Mayor Paul Martuscello announced there was no date scheduled yet for an appeal hearing. The possibility of eviction was being handled in town court in 2010. The eviction was announced at a town board meeting earlier this year.
The boat has been docked there since 2006, unable to be used commercially unless it was inspected; doing so would be costly. The boat was moved last year, Nov. 1, when four Steuben County men tried to dock the boat at Sarrisin’s Restaurant in Penn Yan (also owned by Pfuntner).
Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike prevented the boat from docking, citing safety regulations. The boat was registered as a pleasure vessel before the move and Spike explained at the time that it could be operated. However, the sheriff’s department ended up charging the captain over the move.
