Boys win, girls fall to Elmira Notre Dame

WATKINS GLEN—On Tuesday, April 3 the Watkins Glen boys and girls varsity track teams faced Elmira Notre Dame, with the boys winning 85-55 and the girls losing 98-29.
For the boys, first place finishes were earned by seniors Charles Bascom, John Fausold, Josh Hamelin and Dustin Cummings, as well as sophomore Matt Gill. The team of Bascom, Fausold, Gill and junior Adam Meirjurgen won the competitive 3200 meter relay with a time of 8:47.7. “The boys ran well despite the chilly conditions,” said Coach  Travis Durfee. “Everyone has logged an initial mark in competition. Today’s meet was a starting point for these boys. We can build our season from here.”
For the girls wins were recorded by Corey Flahive in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:46.1 and the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:01.3. Lucy Craig won the shot put with a 23’ 1.5”.
The teams travel to Waverly for their next meet on April 24th.
