'Catch Me if You Can' in Penn Yan

PENN YAN--The Penn Yan Academy Drama Club will present their spring musical "Catch Me if You Can" at four showings this weekend. There will be three evening shows from Thursday, March 8 to Saturday, March 10 beginning at 7 p.m. A matinee will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11.
"Catch Me if You Can" is based on the book and later the movie about Frank Abagnale Jr., who impersonated various official roles in his youth to steal millions of dollars. The true story follows Abagnale as he pretends to be a pilot, doctor, teacher and attorney. However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is never far behind, as agent Carl Hanratty pursues the check fraud Abagnale is committing.
The critically acclaimed movie of the story premiered in 2002 starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, while the musical adaptation was brought to life in 2009. The audience sees the end of the story first, and then flashbacks throughout the musical show the wild life of Abagnale.
Penn Yan's production features Noah Detar (junior) as Frank Abagnale, Jr., Juan Espana (senior) as Carl Hanratty, Zack Blauvelt (senior) as Frank Abagnale, Sr., Jessica Rossi (senior) as Paula Abagnale and Jenna Compton (junior) as Brenda Strong. The musical also includes Ruby Schwartz (senior), Daniel Falter (senior), Ivan Rosas (senior), Owen McFarland (junior), Jacob Eskildsen (sophomore) and Paul H. Gaston (junior).
