Chamber announces new leader

PENN YAN--Jessica Bacher has been named the new president and chief executive officer of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, effective Monday, Dec. 4.
Bacher is a Penn Yan native and most recently was the general manager of the Penn Yan Hampton Inn. Prior to that, Bacher served as the general manger of the Hampton Inn in Geneva for 10 years.
Looking at some chamber goals, Bacher said, "The Yates chamber has a great core of networking events and I look forward to expanding that along with increasing some of our fundraising efforts. We will also continue to build our relationships in the community and increase our membership."
Kathy Waye, an officer and chamber board member said, "We are very pleased to name Jessica as our president and we look forward to working with her."
The last year has produced several changes with the chamber leadership.
Julie Coleman served as the appointed interim chamber director from May through November of this year after the sudden passing of longtime former chamber president Michael Linehan in February, 2017.
