Chedzoy takes second, Gould third at states

ALBANY-Watkins Glen's Ian Chedzoy (182) placed second and Brandon Gould (132) third at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division II championship, Friday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 27.
Chedzoy placed second in his weight class with a 3-1 overall record. In the championship match, Chedzoy was beat by Falconer's Jake Peru, 5-2. In the previous matches Chedzoy beat Warsaw's Aaron Paddock by decision, 7-6; Mattituck's Tim Schmidt by major decision, 10-1; and Hendrick Hudson's Jordan Artope by decision, 6-0.
Gould overall finished the championship with a 4-1 record. In the final match for third place, Gould topped Babylon's Brett Frole by decision, 6-2. He also beat Holland Patent's TJ Phillpotts by decision, 4-1; Edgemont's Kyle Aslanian by decision, 7-1; and Warsaw's Mason Gray by sudden victory, 7-5. Gould's one loss was a pin by Amhest's Kellen Devlin in 4:00 during the semifinals.
