Christmas celebrations continue this weekend

YATES, STEUBEN COUNTIES—It’s Christmastime in the village.
The annual “A Touch of Christmas” celebration will take place this Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Seneca Street Park in Dundee. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will end at around 8 p.m.
Christmas music provided by WFLR will fill the air. A special performance of the Tropies of Grace ensemble from Freedom Village will also take place during the event.
Santa will even attend the celebration, and will arrive at about 6:05 p.m. He will also bring his friend the Christmas bear along. An array of foods is also available for the holiday event.
The Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce will also host their 33rd Annual Christmas in the Park celebration Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Village Square in Hammondsport.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. and will end at around 9 p.m.
The Keuka Lake Players will kick-off the event with a Christmas play at 4 p.m. They will perform Beatrix Potter’s “Christmas Story” at the Presbyterian Church. Admission to the performance is free, but space is limited so plan to arrive early.
A tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. will follow the play, and mark the beginning of a number of outdoor activities for the whole family. Activities will include free horse drawn wagon rides through town, vendors from around the area selling crafts and different food items, and Autumn Mist Alpaca Farm & Mill will be bringing Alpacas for villagers to see and pet.
Santa will be arriving to the celebration at 6 p.m., on the steps of the Community Bank. He will also be bringing along some of his reindeer.
A series of musical groups will be performing throughout the event, including the Hammondsport Central School and Glenn Curtiss Memorial School bands and choirs, and the St. Thomas Community Ringers.
