HAMMONDSPORT—The village of Hammondsport was filled with people on Saturday to attend the annual fireman’s carnival and the Coolest Small Town celebration. At noon on Saturday Hammondsport Mayor Emery Cummings was joined by State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning) for the presentation of official Legislative Resolutions they sponsored in the Senate and Assembly.
The Coolest Small Town celebration was in honor of Hammondsport being named as one of two “Coolest Small Towns” by Budget Travel magazine. O’Mara said "It is the people here in Hammondsport that make it what it is, it is the people that live here, it is the people that come here and visit and spend their hard earned dollars in our region that help make these store fronts flourish that we have here to make this beautiful village a reality." Palmesano added "It's a privilege for us to be here today to celebrate this great day, this great achievement." The village featured a number of attractions throughout the day ending with a parade that finished at the Fireman's Carnival. The day was concluded with a fireworks display that was hosted by the Hammondsport Fire Department.
