Cornell student dies due to swine flu complications

CORNELL—As of Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, one Cornell University student has died due to complications from H1N1 influenza and 623 students have shown flu-like symptoms.
Blaine Friedlander, assistant director for the Cornell press office, said it is only students at this point that have the symptoms.  In a letter from the Cornell President David Skorton released Friday afternoon the student who died was named; Warren J. Schor, 20.  The letter said his death Friday was due to “complications related to H1N1 influenza.”
Joe Schwartz, public information officer, said that not all students who complain of flu-like symptoms are tested for swine flu.  He added that most students are recovering and back in class.
He said that flu kits are being distributed to ill students.  The kits include tissues, hand sanitizer, face masks, symptom log, and a digital thermometer.
