Country players present 'Sleepy Hollow'

ODESSA—The Lake Country Players understudies performance of “Sleepy Hollow” will be this Thursday, July 21, to Saturday, July 23, at the Odessa-Montour High School.
The cast is made up of young actors, age 14 to 20.  “Sleepy Hollow” is based on classic story of the Headless Horseman written by Washington Irving.
When an inane schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, comes to the farming community of Sleepy Hollow, he brings with him all his worldly possessions as he seeks a well-to-do wife.  He soon falls in with Katrina Van Tassel.  Sadly for poor Ichabod, the boisterous Brom Bones is Katrina’s extremely jealous boyfriend.
When Ichabod proposes marriage to Katrina at a party, he is kicked out by Brom, forcing him to make his way through the graveyard during a raging storm. Unfortunately for Ichabod, the ghostly graveyard is haunted by a host of tense spirits, including the Headless Horseman, the most renowned phantom of all.
This year’s director is Manley Gavich, the youngest director the program has had at 14 years old. He has been involved with the Lake Country Players since he was four years old.
Tickets cost $6; children four and under are free.  Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday.
