Cruisin' Night rolls into Penn Yan

PENN YAN--The village of Penn Yan will celebrate two decades of classic cars this weekend with the 20th annual Cruisin' Night Friday, June 17. The vehicles will be parked along Main Street in downtown Penn Yan. Some 300 classic and antique cars, trucks and motorcycles are expected to attend.
Main Street will be closed from Chapel Street to Lake Street beginning at 3:30 p.m. On-site registration near the Penn Yan Post Office begins at 5 p.m. when the cars begin to arrive. Vehicles will be parked at their display locations on Main Street until the streets reopen around 9:30 p.m. There will be no parade of cars this year.
The Arc of Yates is holding a Duck Race that evening, featuring some 2,500 rubber ducks which will be floated down the Keuka Outlet. The ducks will be dropped from the east side of the Main Street bridge beginning at 6:30 p.m. and retrieved at Cherry Street. People can buy tickets for $10, which will correlate with a numbered duck involved in the race. Dozens of prizes will be awarded to the ducks that are first over the finish line.
Music will again be provided by two DJs, with one near the Milo town office and the other by Keuka Restaurant. The street will be lined with a variety of food vendors, while a cancer awareness group will conduct a car smash on Jacob Street.
Village shops, boutiques, restaurants and galleries downtown will also be open for business throughout the night. For more information, call the chamber of commerce at 315-536-3111 or visit the event's website at www.cruisinnight.com.
