ITALY—The body of a missing Italy man, 37, was found Aug. 19 after less than a day of searching.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s office, the cause of death was suicide by asphyxiation and not foul play. According to the sheriff, the man was reported missing at approximately 8 p.m. Aug. 18 and found the next day by 9:30 a.m. Authorities said the body was located after searching a wooded area near Martin Road in Italy. Ontario County Rope Rescue Fire Units were called to assist in retrieving the body due to the rugged terrain. The report said Yates County Coroner Dr. John Cooley pronounced the man dead upon retrieval.
