Dundee beats Lima Christian in TipOff Tournament

DUNDEE—The Dundee Scots defeated Lima Christian Academy, 66-34, at the end of the Dundee Boosters TipOff Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 5.
Dundee led in all four quarters.  By half time, the scores were close with 24-20, but the Scots took a major lead after that.  By the end of the third quarter, the score was 47-28 in the Scots' favor.  The team continued the scoring streak to win, 66-34.
Garrick Conyers scored the most points for Dundee, with 17, and was also named MVP of the tournament.  Joe Tortolon scored the next highest for the Scots, with 13 points.  Dustin Warren and Ryan Ballard both scored eight points.

The varsity boys basketball team plays Romulus next, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
The Scots beat Marcus Whitman, 52-42, in the first half of the Dundee Sports Boosters TipOff Tournament, Friday, Dec. 4.
Coach Les Miller said the Scots trailed by 16 points in the third quarter at one point, but managed to retake the lead at the game's end.  He said by the end of the third quarter, Dundee was only down seven points, at 37-30.  Dundee managed to take the lead in the fourth quarter with about one minute and 30 seconds left in the game.
Dundee had trailed in the first three quarters before taking the lead.  Miller said the score at the start of the first quarter was 8-4, Marcus Whitman, and at the end of the second quarter, 19-17, Marcus Whitman.

The Dundee varsity wrestling team opened the season with a lose to Mynderse, 48-14, in a non-league match, Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Due to a number of forfeits, before the first actual match, the score was 24-6 in Mynderse' favor.  Dundee had five forfeits to Mynderse, and one forfeit from Mynderse.  There were two double forfeits.
Out of seven contested matches, the only two Dundee wrestlers to win were Tony Webb and Nick Raplee, each scoring four points for the team.  Dundee's two wins were back-to-back.  On the mat, Webb scored 15 points, to his opponents' five points.  Raplee scored ten points in his match.
"It's still a program in its infancy," said Dundee Coach Sheldon Gibson.  "We'll get better week by week and with experience."
Gibson added this was the first time for several wrestlers to even hit the mat in a match.  He said Chris Davis' performance was a "very nice surprise" for his first match.  In his match, Davis scored six points, but his Mynderse opponent had seven points, and the win.
The Dundee wrestling team will play again, Saturday, Dec. 4 at Hammondsport Duals, starting at 9 a.m.
