Dundee defeats South Seneca at homecoming

DUNDEE--The Dundee varsity football team advanced to 2-3 on the season with a 49-6 victory over the South Seneca Falcons. Following the game, Ryan Goodman and Jeanette Jayne were named the homecoming king and queen.
The Falcons won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff. They started their drive on their own 20-yard line, driving to the Dundee 40 before throwing an interception to Devin Jensen on fourth and five. Dundee's offense punted following a quick three and out. South Seneca returned the favor with a punt after a three and out.
Dundee's offense took over on their own four-yard line, driving to the South Seneca 40 on a long pass from quarterback Austin Thompson to Jensen. Thompson connected with Jayson Lovejoy for a 39-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Ryan Sprague fell on a Falcons fumble to give the Scots the ball on the South Seneca 46. Johvannie Andrades took the ball on a direct snap fake punt to convert on fourth down, but a swing pass was intercepted by the Falcons and returned to the Dundee 25-yard line.
A series of penalties backed the Falcons up to midfield on first and 30. Brayden Eatherton recovered a fumbled snap, giving the Scots the ball at the South Seneca 41. Thompson completed a second touchdown pass to Jensen for 18 yards, taking a 14-0 lead.
The Falcons threw another interception to Tyler Brace on their first offensive play of the next series. The Scots scored on a three play drive capped off by a one-yard rush by Andrades to take a 20-0 lead in the second quarter.
After forcing a South Seneca punt, Dundee scored again after being set up by a long pass to Jensen to the Falcons' 11. The score came on an 11-yard rush by Tommy Fiorilla to extend the Dundee lead to 28-0.
Dundee's offense started the second half with the ball at their own 35. The Scots' rushing attack marched down the field and scored with a two-yard rush by Andrades. The blowout continued with a score of 35-0 Dundee, which was the score at the end of the third quarter. The game ended with a final score of 49-6.
Offensively, Thompson completed seven of 15 passing attempts for 167 yards for two touchdowns, while adding 16 rushing yards on two carries. Fiorilla led the team with 70 rushing yards on nine carries for one touchdown, while Andrades added 51 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. Jayne contributed 63 yards and one touchdown on six carries.
Defensively, Damon Empson led the team with nine tackles, while Fiorilla added six with one fumble recovery. Jensen and Brace each had interceptions on the afternoon, while Sprague and Eatherton added fumble recoveries.
After the game, Ryan Goodman and Jeanette Jayne were selected as this year's homecoming king and queen. Among those nominated for the honor included Tayler Morrison and her escort Geordan Conyers, Jayne and her escort Ryan Sprague, Paige Easling and her escort Devin Jensen, Emily End and her escort Goodman, and Mayce Goodman and her escort Austin Thompson.
