Dundee ends season with sectional loss

SHORTSVILLE--The Dundee varsity football team ended their season following a 60-13 away loss to Red Jacket Saturday, Oct. 24 in the first round of sectionals. The Scots finished their season with a 4-4 record.
The Scots received the opening kickoff, but Red Jacket intercepted a Dundee pass to give them the ball at the 42-yard line. The Indians got on the board first with a touchdown rush to take a 6-0 lead halfway through the first quarter.
Quarterback Austin Thompson connected with Tommy Fiorilla for a 33-yard pass on their next offensive drive, with a pass to Devin Jensen on fourth down brining the Scots within scoring range at the Red Jacket 16. Thompson connected with Fiorilla for a 14-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute left in the first quarter to take a 7-6 lead.
Dundee took their lead into the second quarter, but it would not last long, as Red Jacket's rushing offense scored again, bringing the game to 14-7.
Dundee's offense struggled with penalties the following drive and were forced to punt. Red Jacket's offense ran the ball down the field again, scoring to take a 20-7 lead. Dundee fumbled the ball back to the Indians at their own four-yard line, leading Red Jacket to increase their lead again to 26-7.
The Scots mounted a drive into Red Jacket territory with time expiring in the half, but an interception kept the score at 26-7 going into halftime.
The Indians received the opening kickoff of the second half, but Samuel Richards came away with a fumble recovery at the 10-yard line. The Scots scored on a 49-yard touchdown reception to Fiorilla, drawing the score to 26-13. The Indians rushing offense responded with a score of their own to take a 34-13 lead. Thompson's next pass was intercepted, leading to another Red Jacket score two plays later, and a score of 40-13.
The second half continued to go Red Jacket's way, with the team finishing the third quarter with a score of 46-13, and a final score of 60-13.
