Dundee falls to Mynderse, 48-14

DUNDEE—The Dundee varsity wrestling team opened the season with a lose to Mynderse, 48-14, in a non-league match, Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Due to a number of forfeits, before the first actual match, the score was 24-6 in Mynderse' favor.  Dundee had five forfeits to Mynderse, and one forfeit from Mynderse.  There were two double forfeits.
Out of seven contested matches, the only two Dundee wrestlers to win were Tony Webb and Nick Raplee, each scoring four points for the team.  Dundee's two wins were back-to-back.  On the mat, Webb scored 15 points, to his opponents' five points.  Raplee scored ten points in his match.
"It's still a program in its infancy," said Dundee Coach Sheldon Gibson.  "We'll get better week by week and with experience."
Gibson added this was the first time for several wrestlers to even hit the mat in a match.  He said Chris Davis' performance was a "very nice surprise" for his first match.  In his match, Davis scored six points, but his Mynderse opponent had seven points, and the win.
The Dundee wrestling team will play again, Saturday, Dec. 4 at Hammondsport Duals, starting at 9 a.m.
