Dundee plans for $20M capital project

DUNDEE--The Dundee Central School District is planning for a $20 million capital project to upgrade several aspects of the campus and facility. The district has been planning and preparing for a capital project that will address many facility and instructional needs. The school first announced they were looking at the project in November of 2015.
The proposal calls for a $20 million capital project to address several different upgrades throughout the school district. The cost breakdown for the project is as follows:
• $12.25 million for educational spaces.
• $7.5 million for the bus garage.
• $1.75 million for the roof replacement.
• $1.6 million for the administrative office work.
• $650,000 for security upgrades.
• $250,000 for site upgrades.
A public vote on the proposed capital project will take place Thursday, Nov. 10 from noon to 8 p.m. in the public meeting room at DCS.
The Dundee Central School will also be hosting two community presentations regarding the proposed capital project. The community presentations will begin in the public meeting room and will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. (prior to open house), andWednesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.
The district is inviting the public to attend two different public presentations that will be hosted at the school regarding all aspects of the project. These will also include a tour of the facility to provide all attendees with the opportunity to view the spaces in their current condition that will be positively impacted by this work.
The school is encouraging comments and questions from the public, noting this is an opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the process, along with the "why" and the "what" of the work.
