Dundee waives tax cap; shares store plans

DUNDEE--The Dundee village board held their monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb 13.
The board passed a resolution to establish a village state tax cap waiver for the fiscal 2018-19 budget. Mayor Fred Cratsley said, "The tax cap is very close to 2.38 percent for the upcoming year. With math adjustments and any late budget changes the percentage can come close or even slightly go over the tax cap percentage. This resolution is passed just in case a small tax cap overage results from the budgeting process, even though we don't expect to need it."
Dundee is considering a local law to provide for a real property tax assessment exemption for cold war military service veterans. A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the village meeting room to hear comments about this resolution.
The trustees plan to make a referral to the county planning department regarding a proposed local law prohibiting dog kennels in the village of Dundee. After the planning board determines the county impact, a village public hearing for the proposed local law will be scheduled.
Cratsley said Dandy Mart has presented their plans for the new Dundee store. Dandy Mart plans to erect a temporary building which will allow the company to run their gas pumps during the transition. Then the old store will be closed and demolished. The store will be closed for about four months while the new store is built. The front of their store will face the gas pumps on their property. After the meeting, Duane Phillips Jr., general manager for Dandy Mini Marts, said, "We would like to open the new Dundee store by Memorial Day weekend, but we have several procedural steps with the property and the state Department of Transportation that just takes a certain amount of time."
The next village meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m.
