DUNDEE--The village of Dundee has decided to delay their planned $1.5 million streetscape project until spring 2020.
Village Clerk Chris Sutherland reported Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the regular village meeting the bids for the project were recently opened and both bids exceeded the budgeted amount for the work. Board members officially rejected the bids and approved a motion to open a new bid process later this year for the work to begin in April, 2020.
The street project includes:
• Reconstructed porous asphalt driveway aprons, pervious flexi-pave within the pedestrian corridors, stormwater infiltration trees, bioretention bump outs, and a downspout disconnect with an infiltration planter to mitigate significant ponding water problems that have damaged road shoulder pavement section, driveway aprons and storm ditches.
• Motorists will see improved pedestrian-scale streetscape that will encourage multi-modal mobility and better address stormwater problems.
• New standardized street trees will be planted along both sides of the downtown corridors.
• The existing sidewalks along the south side of Union Street and the west side of Main Street not compliant with disability standards will be reconstructed to be in compliance.
The next village board meeting is planned for Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
