Former employees file suit against The Connection

PENN YAN—Former employees of The Connection call center in Penn Yan have filled a law suit against the company in the U.S. District Court of Western New York, July 28, 2011.
Andrew Decker, the primary plaintiff named in the suit, said, “the ex-employees are seeking damages alleging that The Connection violated the federal and state WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Acts.”  According to the documents filed with the court, Justin M. Swartz, partner at New York City law firm Outten & Golden, LLP, is representing the former employees.
The Connection Call Center in Penn Yan began operations in Yates County in July 2010, and closed Friday, Feb. 4, 2011.  The facility had employed up to 300 people. The call center had closed because their major customer decided to move business off shore to the Philippines. The Connection leased its facility, which was located at the North Avenue Industrial Park in Penn Yan.
