FINGER LAKES--There's nothing quite like traditional fireworks for Fourth of July celebrations.
This year again in Branchport the Independence Day parade starts on Main Street at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 4 and will feature marching bands, area fire trucks, antique cars and tractors, clowns and floats. Fireworks, behind the Finger Lakes Museum Discovery Campus in Branchport (the former Branchport Elementary School), will start at 10 p.m. The chicken barbecue begins at noon at the Branchport firehouse.
In Hammondsport, the fire department's annual holiday carnival runs from Thursday, July 4 to Saturday, July 6. Saturday, the parade starts in the village at 6 p.m. and the fireworks show starts at 10:30 p.m.
In Watkins Glen, fireworks are planned over Seneca Lake Friday, July 5 at approximately 9:45 p.m. with viewing from Clute Memorial Park. The company, Young Explosives Corporation of Rochester, will again produce the show in Watkins Glen.
For additional holiday events and activities, check this week's calendar for area listings.
