Graduation dates are set for this week

FINGER LAKES--Classes are complete, testing is in the final stages and the Class of 2017 is preparing for their commencement ceremonies. Graduation exercises will be held around the area beginning Thursday, June 22 and continuing to Saturday, June 24.
Dundee will lead-off the celebrations with the Thursday, June 22 graduation. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is held on the front lawn of the school as long as the weather allows. Calley Knapp is the valedictorian, while Alexa Wilderotter is the salutatorian for the Dundee Class of 2017.
Penn Yan's seniors will celebrate with friends and family Friday, June 23. The 7 p.m. ceremony will be held outside on the turf football field, weather permitting. Penn Yan does not name a valedictorian or salutatorian, however student leaders and school administrators will address the crowd.
Hammondsport's commencement will also be held on Friday night, however it begins at 6 p.m. Like Dundee and Penn Yan, weather permitting, graduation is held outside. Graham O'Donnell is the valedictorian of the 2017 senior class. George Ruddy is the class salutatorian.
Odessa-Montour high school will hold their celebration Friday, June 23. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Emelia Paulisczak is the valedictorian for the Class of 2017 and Madison Morse is the salutatorian.
Watkins Glen will congratulate the senior class, Saturday, June 24. The 2 p.m. ceremony is in the high school auditorium. Cambria Weeden is the class valedictorian and Jacob Carocci is the salutatorian.
In addition to the excitement of graduation, many scholarships will also be awarded during the ceremonies to help the graduates in their next life steps.
