DUNDEE—The Finger Lakes Economic Development Center is taking applications for funds from Dundee, Barrington and Starkey businesses as part of a new program.
The program was created by the FLEDC and the Our Town RoCKS Project, sponsored by the S2AY Rural Health Network. It is open to new and existing business with five or fewer employees. Applications are being accepted and the top five projects will receive up to $3,000, or however many businesses needed to use up the $15,000 allocated for this program.
Applications are available at the Dundee Community Center and the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center in Penn Yan. The deadline to submit applications is Sept. 7.
According to the FLEDC, the $3,000 per business is broken up into a $1,500 grant and a $1,500 loan. Loans are fixed with three percent interest for two years. It will be paid in monthly installments.
Ryan Hallings, vice president of FLEDC, said applications from businesses in all sectors will be accepted, no matter how small it is. He explained the funds can be used to buy new equipment or help acquire new inventory.
“It’s meant to go towards micro-level businesses, to increase economic activity,” said Hallings.
Each pre-application will be reviewed and evaluated to determine its economic impact by the Our Town RoCKS Economic Opportunities Committee. Hallings sid the winning businesses would be notified by the end of September.
