Hammondsport approves condominium site plan

HAMMONDSPORT—The Hammondsport planning board has approved the the site plan for Krog Corporation’s latest condominium project update, Tuesday, April 24.
Planning board chairperson David Oliver explained the public hearing drew around 25 residents. He said the comments were all generally in favor of the Keuka Harbor project, formally known as Garrett Landing. He added, “they expressed concerns that it’s sat there so long.”
The project initially resulted in the concrete foundation being poured, which still remains in a fenced off area. At one point, the condos were supposed to be completed by the spring and later the fall of 2009. Work was forced to slow down when changes to the roofing required them to take new bids for the steel.
Oliver said Krog Corporation’s next step is to get the new building permits approved by the inspector and to submit the project to the Attorney General’s office. He added the company never did that last step the previous time the project was before the village three years ago.
Once approval has been given, the owners will be able to start selling units. Oliver previously explained the updated project reduced the number of units from 26 to 13. David Waite, Krog Corp representative, explained the decrease now means the structure will be two stories tall instead of the original three. He explained the old design had units ranging from 2,200 to 3,300 square feet and a loft. In the new plan, Waite said there is no loft and the units will range from 2,500 to 2,700 square feet each.
He added that Peter Krog spoke at the public hearing, saying at least six units will need to be sold before construction starts. Oliver said Krog’s timeline is to start work in the fall and finish by spring 2013.
