Hammondsport school board 6/20/12

Meeting:  The Hammondsport school board met Wednesday, June 20.
Attendance:  All board members were present.
Action:  The board approved an extension for Simon Sananas until Aug. 19, 2012, to complete his financing contingency to purchase the former Curtiss school.  Sananas had one of two proposals to purchase the school and grounds for $301,000.  The other proposal, from Cindy Tallo for $250,000, was rescinded the month before the February decision was made.  Sananas proposes turning the property into a nonprofit community art museum and cultural center.
    •  The board approved an agreement with Avoca Central School and Prattsburgh Central School Districts for a shared professional medicaid management services supervisor from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.
    •  Transfers were approved from the undesignated fund balance: $200,000 to Employee Benefits Accrued Liability Reserve fund, $200,000 to Employee Retirement Services, and $270,000 to 2012 transportation capital reserve.
Discussion without action:  A public hearing was held for changes to the code of conduct.
Appointments/resignations:  The board recognized retirees Linda French, Gloria Stone, Carlene Igras, and Cindy Stocking.
    •  Katie Nichiporuk resigned, effective June 30.
    •  Website supervisor and public information coordinator positions were created, both part-time.
Upcoming meetings:  The next Hammondsport school board meeting is Wednesday, July 11, at 6 p.m.
