Harvest Festival is set for Oct. 13

    MONTOUR FALLS—The fifth annual Falls Harvest Festival in Montour will provide a full afternoon of fall activities, Saturday, Oct. 13.
    This year’s festival runs 1 to 8 p.m. on Main Street and features pie eating, scarecrow  decorating, and pumpkin carving contests, as well as seasonal events. Residents can bring their carved pumpkins and decorated scarecrows to be judged at the festival by registering at the main tent. The third annual Classic Car Show is also scheduled. Last year’s lineup included a 1955 Crown Victoria, the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
    The festival’s usual fun includes Schuyler Hospital’s Kid Zone, a petting zoo and a blowup castle, and a live demonstration by chainsaw sculptor Mark Watson is also scheduled. Live music acts will perform throughout the day on the Music Stage.Attendees may shop from a market of food, craft and farm vendors. The Mechanics Club will be offering beverages throughout the day and evening.
    The Lake Country Players will hold guided Historical Ghost Walks, every half hour from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The “ghosts” include many important historical figures from Montour Falls, played by area actors. Tickets are $5 per person, or $20 per family.
    The fireworks finale, displayed over the 156 foot high She-Qua-Ga Falls, will follow a free outdoor concert by The Sutras, performing from 5 to 8 p.m.
