Highland apartments will undergo $3.8M renovations

DUNDEE—The Highland Park Apartments, located on Highland Drive in Dundee, will undergo a $3.8 million renovation project starting this April.
The apartments are run by O.D.S. Management Inc., out of Akron, N.Y. Neil Hourihan, company manager, explained that starting April 1, the 12 buildings will be renovated, including new bathrooms, appliances, siding, and repaving.
“(The apartments) needed it,” said Hourihan. He explained the facilities were constructed in 1972.
The work will be done in shifts. Hourihan said everything is expected to be completed by March 2013. The renovations mean tenants will be temporarily relocated while work is underway. Hourihan said residents will be relocated to empty units while work is done on each building.
He explained of the 91 total units at Highland Park Apartments, only 83 are occupied. Hourihan added the eight vacant apartments will be used to house tenants while a building is being renovated. Those residents will then be able to move back into the completed units.
Hourihan said each resident should only be in a temporary apartment for no more than 30 days. He added that movers will be provided to relocate all of the person’s belongings to the temporary unit and back once work is done.
