HIMROD--The Himrod Fire Department held the annual dinner and awards banquet, Tuesday, Feb. 5. The evening was dedicated to honoring the outstanding contributions of the department members. Typically, the dinner is held on Saturday night, but over a foot of snow in January postponed the dinner to last week.

Two Chief's Awards were presented to Lynnford Hoover and Matthew Hoover. The Presidential Award went to Randell Martin.

Steven Hoover was recognized for 20 years of service, Lynnette Hoover and Matthew Hoover for 10 years and Lynnford Hoover and Linford Fritz for five years.
The Himrod Fire Department also recently took delivery of a 2018 Freightliner Pumper Tanker. The apparatus can carry 2,000 gallons of water and deliver 1,250 gallons per minute pumping. The truck committee included Waylon Fritz, Lester Hoover, Eugene Nolt, Stephen Acker, Jared Webster, Andy Siwak, Leon Ray Hoover, Clarence Hoover, James Sorce and Steven Hoover. The group helped select the specifications for the pumper to meet the needs of the department.
