Hope Walk fund continues to grow

Yates County--The Hope Walk of Yates County is an independent, locally managed grass-roots organization of people who set out to make a positive difference for people in the county suffering from cancer.
Hope Walk is succeeding with their mission. For this year, the group has already raised some $19,200 of their $40,000 goal.
This Saturday, Aug. 24 the Hope Walk event will again be held in Penn Yan at 467 North Main St. from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Prior to Saturday, Hope Walk participants have signed up sponsors who will donate money for their walking distance or involvement. Businesses have also been invited to become corporate sponsors and simply make a donation.
Here's the really impressive part. All of the money raised from the event stays in Yates County to help fund cancer patients, support services along with research, education, advocacy and service. Hope Walk is a 501(c)(3) organization. Often a grant for $500 is provided for a Yates cancer patient.
Walkers will be on the field at 3 p.m. and many will walk until dusk. The schedule for the afternoon and evening includes the following:
