WATKINS GLEN—Watkins Glen hosted the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC) wrestling championships, Saturday, Jan. 22, where the Senecas placed seventh and the Indians placed 16th. There were 16 schools in the competition. Watkins had one first place win, one third place, one fourth place, and two wrestlers took fifth. Watkins' Adam Hughey placed first in the 160 weight class. He beat South Seneca's Matt Pinckney and won the championship match by decision, 4-1. Hughey also won two other matches by decision. Nick Cocola won third in the 140 weight class. He had four wins including his third place victory over Groton's Terrell Williams. Dustin Cummings (130) placed fourth by losing to Whitney Point's Jordan Torbitt in 1:42. He had two other wins. Mike Rhodes took fifth in the 112 weight class. He pinned Waverly's Joey Peters in 2:40. Josh Burge (125) took fifth by beating Spencer-VanEtten's Casey Tiffany with a 2-0 decision. Odessa's Mike Fraboni had a consolation win against Watkins' Dillon Gossett in the 119 weight class. Fraboni pinned Gossett in 3:14. Also for Odessa, Alex Wheeler (171) lost to Dryden's Kyle Jackson in 3:10. Tyler Dupuy (96) was pinned in 1:27 by Lansing's Greg Lee.
