Jerusalem town board 1/19/11

Meeting: The Jerusalem town board met for approximately two and one half hours, Wednesday, Jan. 19.
Attendance: All town board members were present. Ten members of the public were in the audience.
Action: Scheduled a public hearing Wednesday, Feb. 16, on a local law that would change the assessor job from an elected position to appointed.
• Placed a public hearing on a local law regarding administrative fee reimbursement on the February agenda. The law is intended to place the financial burden for certain tests on developers rather than on the town.
• Voted no on paying a portion of a bill connected to the attempt to bring the Keuka Maid to Penn Yan.
Discussion without action: A public hearing on a proposed moratorium on Marcellus Shale gas drilling will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16. There was a discussion as to whether the town wishes to have a moratorium in place while New York State already has one in force. The town must have a committee to study the issue in order to put a moratorium in place.
Upcoming meetings: Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in the town hall on Italy Valley Road.
