Job eliminated for 'Teacher of the Year'

DUNDEE, May 25—Charles Stewart was chosen as this year’s “Teacher of the Year” by members of the Dundee Central School’s Chapter of the National Honor Society. Each year the group selects a teacher for the special honor. This year the announcement was tinged with sadness. Stewart is in his final weeks as a DCS faculty member. Stewart’s position was eliminated this year due to budget constraints. He is in the process of searching for another teaching position.
Stewart accepted the honor during the National Honor Society Spring induction program on Thursday, May 19. Stewart, who teaches business education, congratulated the new members. He also thanked NHS advisor Maura Benicasa-Wolverton and the students. Stewart said, “I will definitely miss you all.”
Stewart coached JV basketball at DCS. Stewart received a painting depicting New York Yankees uniforms as a gift from the students in the DCS National Honor Society.
