Keuka Arts Festival welcomes additions

PENN YAN--Painters, photographers, jewelers, woodworkers, potters and artists in many other mediums from New York state, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maine will share their talents and their stories at the 11th annual Keuka Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10, along the Outlet Trail in Penn Yan.
This is the first year the festival has been run by the Arts Center of Yates County and Arts Center executive director Kris Pearson is excited about the opportunity.
"Taking on the festival helps the arts center expand our commitment to the arts in Yates County," said Pearson. "Many of the featured artists we recruit for exhibits we find at festivals around the region. This festival also gives many of our local artists an opportunity to showcase more of their work than we have room to show at the arts center in any given exhibit. In addition, the festival includes culinary arts and performing arts which we don't necessarily have the facilities to accommodate throughout the year."
This year's slate of artists includes One of a Kind Sea Glass jewelry, Short Line Spikes metal sculptures, Fingerlake Footprints paintings by Bill Mowson, Leaf Me Alone garden sculptures, AZ Stained Glass and Severyn hand-painted blouses from original designs. In the "farmer's market" category, the festival welcomes DAFNI Greek Gourmet--an olive oil company based in Biddeford, Maine as well as Abbey of the Genesee Monk's Bread and the ever popular Nectar of the Vine wine slushy mixes. This year's entertainment includes performances by the Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra, Reef Aires, Beatles tribute band Mr. Mustard and the popular Artistic License.
The Keuka Arts Festival will run Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors will run from the boat launch on the outlet along the beginning of the Outlet Trail to the Main Street bridge. There is no admission fee to the festival and parking (at the ballfields and various parking lots around the village of Penn Yan, as well as limited parking at Outlet Park) is free.
