HAMMONDSPORT—The Wine Country Classic Boats, Inc. is hosting the 29th Annual Antique Boat Show and Regatta in Hammondsport, Friday, July 15, to Sunday, July 17. First run in 1984, the regatta is a salute to the historic Hammondsport-Penn Yan Race of the 1920s and 1930s. The first regattas were run from Hammondsport to Penn Yan, as the great races before them had done. When it became apparent that ending the race in Penn Yan was not very practical, the course was changed to a run from Hammondsport to Bluff Point and back. That has been the format for most of the regatta’s 29 years. There will be wine tasting and a reception Friday, for ticket holders. Saturday starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. at Depot Park. There will be a boat parade at 3 p.m. The event will also include displays of antique and classic boats featuring classic fiberglass boats, and a judged show. The regatta will be held Sunday, along with a chicken barbecue. Sunday runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the regatta at 11 a.m. Both Saturday and Sunday are free to attend.
