Keuka student is out of the hospital

PENN YAN—Keuka College student Courtney B. Karolinko was released from Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, after being taken there with extreme hypothermia.
Barb Taney, Finger Lakes Health representative, said Karlinko, 21, of 211 Blyley Hall, Keuka Park, was treated and then released.  The student was rescued Friday, Dec. 11, after spending most of the night in the basement she had fallen into at 118 Seneca St.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, Karolinko, was reported missing, Friday, Dec. 11 at 12:15 a.m.  The report said she had fallen into partially exposed basement remains during the night.  She was found by Larry Strickland, a Birkett Mills employee, who heard her calling the next morning.  The report said he and another worker and helped her out with a ladder.
The police said Karolinko was taken to Soldiers and Sailor Memorial Hospital for treatment of hypothermia.  The report said she had spent the night in the basement with little protection from the cold, and no shoes or socks.  The police also said Karolinko suffered from minor injuries due to the fall itself.
