HAMMONDSPORT—The Hammondsport varsity volleyball team beat Fillmore in three sets, Friday, Oct. 15. The final scores were 25-21, 25-7, 25-16. Coach Julie Amsden called it a really good night and that “the girls were really fired up to play.” Andrea Miller led the Lakers with eight kills. Lauren Binnert also had four kills, 15 assists, and four aces. Alissa Walruth contributed 13 digs. Amsden said the team is now 15-1, with one one regular game left in the season. The girls are also the Class D defending champions from last year. Amsden added the team made some changes to the defense. She explained it must have worked, because the Lakers had an increase in digs Friday night. Ansden also said the girls played very cohesively. Hammondsport plays next at Canisteo Greenwood, Wednesday, Oct. 20.
