Legislature sets special meeting

PENN YAN - The Yates County Legislature has scheduled a special session for 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 in the legislative chambers at 417 Liberty St.
At the meeting, the county lawmakers are to consider appointing a new legislator to fill the vacant District 1 position that was held by Gary Montgomery, who died on Nov. 2.
Montgomery had represented the towns of Italy, Middlesex and Jerusalem since Jan. 1, 2014. He resigned from the position in October for health reasons. His term expires at the end of 2017.
The legislature will consider Chairman Timothy Dennis' appointment of June Pendelton to the Fish and Wildlife Management Board as the landowner representative, according to the meeting notice from Legislature Clerk Connie Hayes.
Additionally, the legislature will set the date for its year-end meeting and hold an executive session, if needed.
