Linehan arrested for DWI charges

PENN YAN—Yates County Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Linehan, 48, of 113 Chapel St. in Penn Yan was arrested for speeding and driving while intoxicated Friday, Oct. 29. The speeding violation was for traveling 53 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone on Brown Street in the village of Penn Yan.
Linehan, who was alone in the vehicle, pulled his car into the Chamber of Commerce parking lot on Route 14A after being stopped by the police. At that time, Yates County Sheriff’s deputies detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage.
According to the Sheriff’s office, Linehan failed a field sobriety test.
New York State law lists .08 percent as the legal limit of intoxication. Linehan was arraigned in the Town of Benton court and released to appear at a later date.
Linehan has been head of the Chamber of Commerce since 1992.
