Milo adopts $1.4M budget for 2012

    PENN YAN—Town of Milo officials passed their 2012 budget during the meeting on Monday, Nov. 21. The 2012 budget is $1,472,685. The previous year was $1,434,852. Supervisor John Socha said the budget is within the two percent tax cap.
    In other business: Socha said Larson Design Group has agreed to look at the town Comprehensive Plan. Socha said numerous concerns have been raised about the document, which was written in 2009. The board feels that the plan needs to be reviewed by professional consultants. After consultation, a decision may be made to either change or adopt the document.
    • A public hearing on proposed changes in term limits for the town planning board and zoning board of appeals at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19 was scheduled. The current terms for both boards are seven years. The proposed change is three years. Socha said any further appointments to the boards will be for three years.
    • The board passed the driveway law following a public hearing. The law addresses construction standards. No comments were received during the hearing.
    • A recent power outage in the Himrod Water District was caused by a transformer problem.
    • The board declared Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 as holidays. The Milo office will be closed on those days.
    The next meeting of the Milo town board will be on Monday, Dec. 19. The meeting will be in the town office on Main Street in Penn Yan.
