Milo appoints Spanneut to board

MILO—During their organizational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3, the town of Milo appointed Gene Spanneut to fill their open council person spot.  Spanneut was sworn in immediately after being elected.  The position was vacated by Leslie Church after she was appointed town supervisor last December.
Spanneut, who previously spent four years on the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), was excited about being appointed.  “It’s going to be a great chance to learn, observe, and participate,” he said.  “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to serve the community.”
Spanneut will finish the remainder of Church’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2012.
    In other business:
    • Kay Williamson was appointed chairperson of the Planning Board.  Phillip Riehl was appointed for the same position on the ZBA.  The terms for both Williamson and Riehl commence till Dec. 31, 2012.
    • Nate Riehl was appointed to the Planning Board.  His term will last until Dec. 31, 2014.
• Amber Degner was appointed to the ZBA for a term lasting until Dec. 31, 2014.
    • The town board reappointed Leon Hoover and Dale Hallings to the Agricultural Advisory Committee.  Hoover’s term ends Dec. 31, 2015 and Hallings’ finishes on the same date this year.
    • Patricia Stenz was reappointed to the Board of Assessment Review through Sep. 30, 2016.
    • The board approved the use of Community Bank, Five Star Bank, and Lyons National Bank.  Supervisor Leslie Church and Councilperson Arden Sorensen will be authorized to sign checks and other financial papers.
    • Milo will continue to hold regular monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the town of Milo hall.  If the third Monday falls on a legal holiday, the meeting will be held on the Tuesday following the third Monday.  The next regular meeting will be Jan. 17.
