Montour Falls meeting 02/02/09

Meeting:  The Montour Falls village board met Monday, Feb. 2 for one hour and 20 minutes.

Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were two members of the public in the audience.

Action:  The village election registration day was for Saturday, March 7, from noon to 5 p.m.

• The board approved paying one night at a hotel for board member Phil Smith so he could attend Advocate Day in Albany, March 10 and 11.  There, a number of representatives from municipalites and highway departments will push for the government to raise their Consolidated Local Street and Highway Program (CHIPs) money back up.  Smith said that the money they are expected to get was cut from $59,000 to $35,000.

• The board agreed to work with New York Rural Water to write the wellhead protection law.  Representatives from Rural Water will meet with village officials to develop the law.

• Changes were made to Marina leases, except for seasonal ones.  All others, daily, weekly, monthly, will go up in price.  The cost for winter storage of a camper at the marina will also go up.

• The board approved election inspectors for the March 18 election.

Discussion without action: The board considered having the docks cleaned out the same time as dredging will take place in April.  They did not decided on anything yet.

Upcoming meetings:  The next regualr board meeting will be Monday Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
