Montour Falls plans 59th fire carnival

MONTOUR FALLS--The Montour Falls Fire Department will hold its 59th annual Festival and Parade next weekend. The event will runThursday through Saturday, June 11 through 13 and will take place at the fireman's field. Festival grounds open at 6 p.m. Thursday andFriday, while opening at noon Saturday. The event features rides, games, food and live entertainment.
Village officials estimate the annual attendance at this event to be between 1,500 and 2,000 people. Saturday's parade will begin at 5 p.m. along Main Street. The road will be closed for approximately one hour for the parade, while parking will not be allowed on the street all day.
There will be a new raffle this year, with the grand prize being a $10,000 gift card to either Bass Pro Shops or Harley-Davidson. The first place winner may choose to accept a $7,500 cash prize instead of a gift card.
Additional cash prizes will be given to runner-up winners, ranging from a $2,000 prize for second place to $100 for fifth through 10th place. Tickets for the raffle are available for $25 each or five tickets for $100. Proceeds for the raffle will go to benefit the department's apparatus and equipment fund.
